There are many significant challenges the world is facing today, but some of the most important issues that developed countries, and Japan in particular, must address first include the declining birthrate and aging population, creation of new values, and those related to the security of the economy, regions, and daily life. To solve these issues, Keio University is conducting cross-disciplinary research centered on its 3 interdisciplinary research initiatives of "Longevity," "Security," and "Creativity." As part of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's (MEXT) Top Global University Project, which was launched in 2014, we adopted the conceptual theme of "Enhancing Sustainability of Global Society Through Jitsugaku (Science)," and through the international joint research and educational programs of each initiative as well as academic exchange, we are also working actively to develop human resources who can play an active role in the international arena. In order to build a better future, we will contribute to the development of a global society by strengthening collaboration with the international community and promoting advanced interdisciplinary and international research.
