🇫🇷 French Ambassador to Japan Visits Keio

On March 3, Keio University President Kohei Itoh welcomed H.E. Béatrice Le Fraper du Hellen, Ambassador of France to Japan, and Prof. Xavier Bressaud, Counselor for Science and Technology, to the Mita Campus.

During the visit, they exchanged views on further deepening research and educational collaboration between the two nations. As the current Chair of the U7+ Alliance, President Itoh also focused the conversation on the upcoming U7+ Presidential Summit scheduled for this April in Paris.

🔬 Nature’s Editor-in-Chief Dr. Magdalena Skipper Visits Shinanomachi Campus

Last month, Dr. Magdalena Skipper, editor-in-chief of the British scientific journal Nature, visited the Keio University Shinanomachi Research & Incubation Center (CRIK Shinanomachi) together with Springer Nature Japan's Director Hiromitsu Urakami and Commercial Director Ikuko Oba.

Dr. Magdalena Skipper and Keio University leadership exchanged views on a variety of topics including AI in education, the potential for interdisciplinary research at cutting-edge research facilities, and the role of research in addressing societal challenges.

🌏 Keio President and VP Attend U7+ Alliance Meeting

Earlier this year, President Itoh and Vice-President Tsuchiya attended the U7+ Presidential Delegates Meeting, hosted by Tohoku University.

At the meeting, university leadership from 30 institutions engaged in spirited discussions on critical challenges facing higher education.

Keio is the chair of the U7+ Alliance, a consortium of 50 universities around the world. At U7+ Alliance meetings, presidents and vice-presidents engage in discussions and form proposals to government leaders in G7 countries and beyond.

🎁✨ Drone Light Show & Projection Mapping at SFC

Earlier this month, the Keiji Takeda Lab held "SFC TWIN-LIGHTS 2025 SKY × LIGHT", a Christmas-themed show blending drone lights, projection mapping, and laser mapping.

The project aimed to liven up Shonan Fujisawa Campus, which can feel dark and lifeless on winter nights. Despite the cold, over 100 spectators gathered at Shonan Fujisawa Campus to enjoy the show.

This was the lab’s first project blending drone light shows and projection mapping, two areas they have researched independently in the past. They hope to continue their work, producing even safer and more entertaining shows.
