🎁✨ Drone Light Show & Projection Mapping at SFC

Earlier this month, the Keiji Takeda Lab held "SFC TWIN-LIGHTS 2025 SKY × LIGHT", a Christmas-themed show blending drone lights, projection mapping, and laser mapping.

The project aimed to liven up Shonan Fujisawa Campus, which can feel dark and lifeless on winter nights. Despite the cold, over 100 spectators gathered at Shonan Fujisawa Campus to enjoy the show.

This was the lab’s first project blending drone light shows and projection mapping, two areas they have researched independently in the past. They hope to continue their work, producing even safer and more entertaining shows.

🥍Keio Clinches Victory in Annual Waseda-Keio Women’s Lacrosse Match 🏆

The “Sokei-sen” rivalry continued to live up to its reputation with the 33rd Waseda-Keio Lacrosse Matches that took place on May 18. The Hiyoshi Campus Athletics Field was filled with excitement as spectators and cheer groups witnessed the action.
After a thrilling contest in which both teams went point-for-point until the very end, Keio’s women’s lacrosse team emerged victorious with an 8-6 win!
Following the match, both the athletes and the audience came together to share the joy of victory by singing the chorus of “Wakaki-chi”, the fight song of Keio University.

🇳🇱🇯🇵 Dutch Prime Minister Speaks at Keio

Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof visited Keio University on April 21 for a special lecture on “The Netherlands and Japan: the future of a historical partnership in times of global upheaval.”
President Itoh welcomed the prime minister, reflecting on the centuries-old Dutch-Japanese relationship that helped inspire Fukuzawa Yukichi to found Keio.

Prime Minister Schoof emphasized our interconnected world and the need for resilience and economic security amid geopolitical changes. After the lecture, students asked the Prime Minister questions while Professor Hosoya moderated, discussing European-Japanese cooperation, climate innovation, and shared democratic values.

Since late 2023 there has been a bright pop of colour outside Greens’ Terrace cafeteria on Hiyoshi Campus. Dubbed the Hiyoshi Ribbon Terrace, it is a temporary shading structure made up of seven orange fabric panels designed to enhance the usability of the sunken amphitheater and terraced seating.

Designed by Jorge Almazán and Keio University StudioLab, the terrace has quickly become a popular gathering space for students. The fabric ribbons provide shade for the terraced seats while allowing airflow and natural light to pass through, and the bright orange fabric contrasts with the surrounding greenery and adds vibrancy to the concrete courtyard.
