This is my second year in charge of the Research Project. In the Research Project, students carefully select their topics and conduct quite in-depth research, which makes me, as an instructor, even more serious. Not only that, but it also gets me excited. When a student's research takes a new turn and yields unexpected results, I can't help but want to shout 'Banzai!' Of course, the path of research is not always smooth. There will be times when you might think, 'This isn't working.' It is important for students and teachers to work together to overcome these obstacles. Moreover, this is a case of 'learning while teaching, teaching while learning' in the privileged environment of one-on-one guidance!
Although the time is limited to one year, I hope you will experience the joy of completing your research within this condensed period.

In any case, the Research Project is specialized for thesis writing. Over the course of a year, there is a sense that the instructor and the student are 'nurturing' a single thesis together. Through the exchange of drafts, ideas flourish and logic becomes more organized. It is a great joy to watch that growth and the student's efforts. Another feature of this project is that any theme can be the subject of interdisciplinary consideration. Last year, a student and I worked on the representation of 'otokonoko' in eroge (erotic games). Posing a question, reading materials, and putting an argument into words—this is the very essence of scholarship, the duty of a student. The 'Ken-Pro' (Research Project) is the place for this practice. I encourage Keio students who want to take pride in being university students to take on this challenge.
