Developing the Next Generation of Leaders in the Global Economy

The study of economics in Japan began with the founding of Keio University and was institutionalized by the Department of Political Economy, the precursor to the Faculty of Economics. The graduates of these organizations, known as “Keio Keizaijin,” have played a leading role in the development of Japan’s economy since the Meiji era. By equipping students with the ability to effectively speak and debate using economics, even on the international stage, the Faculty of Economics aims to develop the next generation of economic experts to lead the global economy.
