Chutobu Junior High School ── Reading Memo ──

Publish: April 01, 2025

The Chutobu Junior High School library is located on the second floor, the same floor as the third-year classrooms. While it is naturally surrounded by books, it is a space where sunlight streams in when the curtains are opened, and the cheerful voices of Chutobu Junior High School students spending time in the courtyard echo through.

Now, at Chutobu Junior High School, all students work on a Reading Memo (reading notebook). This is a notebook for recording impressions and other thoughts on books read over the three years of junior high school. It goes without saying that the experience of reading books during one's student years is invaluable. This notebook is for writing down things noticed during reading, as well as one's own thoughts and ideas. Librarian teachers and homeroom teachers review them and provide comments in return.

Perhaps... some people might think a reading notebook sounds like a hassle. However, this notebook likely gains its true brilliance only after time has passed. Much like a diary, it is like a drawer from which you can pull out what books you read and how you felt at that time. To put it grandly, the Reading Memo makes it possible to go and meet your past self. Even after graduation, I hope that students will continue to record at least the titles of the books they read.
