🇺🇸 Keio University President Itoh Visits Partner US University Presidents

Last September, President Itoh and Vice-President Tsuchiya traveled to the US to visit the presidents of Brown University, Carnegie Mellon University (only visited by President Itoh), Harvard University, and Yale University.

In the photos the two can be seen meeting with Brown President Christina H. Paxson, Harvard President Alan M. Garber, Yale President Maurie McInnis, as well as other university administrators.

The meetings were a valuable opportunity to reflect upon the long history of exchange and discuss opportunities for future collaboration in education and research with our partner institutions in the United States.

🇬🇧🇯🇵 VP Tsuchiya Speaks at Edward Boyle Memorial Lecture
Professor Motohiro Tsuchiya, vice-president for global engagement at Keio University, was a panelist during the 2025 Edward Boyle Memorial Lecture.

The event was co-organized by the University of Leeds, the Royal Society of Arts, and RENKEI, a Japan-UK consortium of research universities co-chaired by Vice-President Tsuchiya.

The theme of this year’s lecture was “The Importance of Global Partnerships in Higher Education.” During the panel, he touched upon Keio University founder Yukichi Fukuzawa’s experiences visiting the Great London Expedition and the trip’s impact on his seminal work “Things Western (Seiyō Jijō),” as well as the importance of preserving international university partnerships like RENKEI.
