Keio University is holding the 49th Shinzo Koizumi Prize National High School Essay Contest. This contest was established in 1976 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the passing of Dr. Shinzo Koizumi, who served as the President of Keio University for over 13 years from 1933. The contest aims to pass on the character and achievements of Dr. Koizumi—an outstanding researcher, educator, and accomplished writer—to future generations and to contribute to the improvement of young people's writing and expressive skills.

In an era where the decline in young people's writing skills is often noted, this contest calls for well-reasoned, long-form essays of 6,000 to 8,000 characters. Each year, it attracts numerous entries from across the country, with many high-quality works submitted.

We kindly ask for your cooperation in sharing information about this contest to help us reach more high school students, parents, and high school teachers, and to encourage a large number of submissions again this year.
