Keio University (located in Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Kohei Ito) and The Matsushita Institute of Government and Management (located in Chigasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture; President: Norichika Toyama) will launch an endowed course on "The Nation and Corporations: The Matsushita Management Philosophy" at the Keio University Mita Campus, starting on Monday, April 8, 2024.

The Faculty of Business and Commerce at Keio University aims to cultivate leaders with a focus on jitsugaku (science) who can contribute to global society by identifying and solving problems in the industrial world with a critical spirit. Since its establishment in April 1980, The Matsushita Institute of Government and Management has produced numerous leaders who are active in various fields around the world.

This endowed course, based on the extensive capabilities of The Matsushita Institute of Government and Management, which has dedicated itself to fostering politicians for national governance and executives for corporate management, aims to facilitate multifaceted discussions on the nature of leadership required in 21st-century Japan. It also seeks to encourage students' autonomous learning and practice to develop their leadership and cross-boundary skills. The course will invite lecturers with rich backgrounds who share the management philosophy of Konosuke Matsushita—the founder of The Matsushita Institute of Government and Management and known as the "god of management"—to deepen insights into the future of Japan as a nation and its corporations from political, economic, and management perspectives. Although offered by the Faculty of Business and Commerce, the course is open to students from other faculties and graduate schools. We look forward to welcoming many aspiring next-generation leaders.
