Research Overview
My research focuses on nineteenth-century English literature, with particular emphasis on the works of George Eliot, George Henry Lewes, Charlotte Brontë, and Thomas Hardy. My research has explored the interrelationships between the Victorian novel and journalism, literature and science, and literature and theatre. I also examine the reception of English literature in Meiji-era Japan.
